Beloved Our Lady of Guadalupe
Love Feels Good
My special connection to children is because a part of me refuses to grow up. I still laugh like an eight year old child at the silliest things like the playfulness of kittens and puppies and the antics of my tuxedo cat Mickey Mouse. It is the same when I used to watch "The Three Stooges" or play peek-a-boo with toddlers. I relish in coming up to the level of children and animals. If one takes the time to just enjoy the honest and playful nature of these Beings of Light, it is apparent how very intuitive they are, which is what gives them their innocence. From birth children function on a higher more intuitive level and as they become older, this sixth sense is untaught and in some instances forbidden. Over the years I have observed children and animals more closely and I am convinced that they can sense and see auras. An aura is the electromagnetic field surrounding us and is the extension of our own energy, emanating colors directly associated with our thoughts, feelings and even illnesses.
As an intern in a Family Practice residency, I was fortunate to deliver 25 beautiful and healthy children. Each time after having followed the progression of this precious cargo in the womb until the contractions began, I was still amazed from an enlarged abdomen with heartbeats, that out came a real live BABY! As I laid the infant with the attached umbilical cord upon the mother's chest I wanted to cry tears of joy and elation, because I had been instrumental in bringing this new life into the world. It became clear why counting the fingers and toes was all a part of affirming this miracle. During the ten lunar months of gestation anything can affect the development of the fetus. Even at the end of this hibernation while traveling through the birth canal, the lack ofadequate oxygen can impair the development and function of this child, changing his or her quality of life as well as that of the family.
One night on call while rotating on the Obstetrics (OB) ward, my true was courage tested. It was a winter's eve with a strong snow storm and the private physicians were unable to arrive on time to deliver their own patients. Here I was straight out of medical school on an OB ward as the only physician and two mothers who were ready to deliver. The emergency commanded that I literally run from one room to the next only having had time to change my gloves and just in time to catch the second baby. We must not forget that some of these children have very pressing engagements with an almost full itinerary on the path of their spiritual journey. I AM so “greatful” for the nurses who were in attendance as my extraordinary support system, physically and emotionally. I am also appreciative for my Guardian Angels for all the times they have been present in some very difficult professional circumstances. Since my internship whenever I see a woman with a child still in the womb, I stop and smile, admiring how truly beautiful they are. In America and in Europe, I have often approached or silently wished them a wonderful pregnancy and a perfect child. During their visits in traditional medical practice during their visits, I closed my eyes, gently rubbed the mother's tummy and said a small prayer. Each time I saw a child, I blessed them and affirmed that they would always feel Love and be protected, and guided, regardless of the choices made by their family.
During the 10 lunar months the fetus lives in the warm bubble of the amniotic sac, containing a liquid which nourishes and protects the baby. It is so befitting that in the German language it is called “Fruchtblase”, meaning “fruit sac”. I admire families who choose to have their children delivered in a tub of warm water while listening to Mozart, in the comfort of their own home. Somehow this affinity for water, this element of the emotions, I carried from the womb into my adulthood. I cannot even remember learning how to swim. In writing this bookof “Dolphins Dreams” You tube CD, with sounds of the oceans and the language of these highly intuitive mammals, played in the background for hours. The time seemed to have floated by. This love for water includes swimming, especially in the pristine turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. One dream is to of swim with the dolphins and sea turtles in Hawaii and the Seychelles. Taking bathes has always been a passion, such that whenever I am perplexed about an aspect of my live or have an important decision to make, I may take 3 or 4 bathes a day, while listening to Mozart or Hayden. I feel much more relaxed and I am given such clarity. Sometimes while standing in the shower, the Divine guidance just comes to me, for that day. The universe confirmed many years ago while attending a service at the Agape International Center for Spiritual Truth in Los Angeles and during a service the reverend Dr. Michael Beckwith stated that what helps him to make important decisions is taking bathes. I said " Oh my God, praise the Lord". It is easy to comprehend why being in and drinking this Divine Elixir , a clear fluid that nourishes, hydrates, cleanses and detoxifies also rejuvenates us. I love standing in the rain like a child, especially when the weather is warm. It is a wonderful natural shower. Just let yourself get wet!
Several years ago, I chose to work as a swim instructor at a very special aquatic center in Palo Alto, California. Here one had the opportunity to play and exercise with children and adults, including those with special needs. These children are an extra blessing from God and given to those whose lives will be touched in ways which they never thought imaginable. After observing both the mothers and fathers at this aquatic center I was again filled with the miracle of life and love! These activities offered wonderful opportunities for bonding, as well as the feeling of fulfillment in a totally different way. When we consider that the woman's body is the baby's initial home along with the ability to breast feed, this special time for these fathers was priceless. Children who experienced the challenges of cerebral palsy had miraculous physical and emotional abilities which were only visible in water. Following months and years of therapeutic swim sessions, they were able to move, rotate and bend in ways which they could not demonstrate to their primary care and specialty physicians, while in a wheelchair. At Meharry Medical College I had the honor of knowing a classmate, Dr. D, who had been born with the diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. He graduated on time and became a Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine specialist; a true inspiration to our class, to all of his patients and especially to medicine.
In the late 1980’s, I met the very wise woman and co-author Susan Loghan of the “Healing Runes”, who had given me this sacred wisdom about the children born with “Down’s Syndrome. I was often prompted to share these thoughts with the parents. They usually smile and say "Yes, I know". In Germany while teaching an English class to various professionals, I painted a picture of an experience while walking along the pedestrian zone in downtown Wiesbaden. While passing by the McDonald’s on a Saturday afternoon, I noticed a sweet child with this diagnosis, sitting near the window with his family. As I walked up to the window and began communicating with him by smiling, laughing and making motions with my hands. The parents turned around and enjoyed our silent conversation. One of my students commented how he agreed since his best friend had such a special bundle of joy. Yet, all children are a beautiful gift and in some cultures like Mexico this was very apparent. In Pico Rivera at a clinic, the “Abuela” addressed her three grandchildren as “mi Amor”, while in the white American community you often hear the name “princess” given to the little girls. The two names have a completely different energy. At this time of anchoring more Divine Feminine Light, instead we are queens and everyone is balancing the presence of the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine energies!
On one particular day I observed a young boy about 4 years old. I knew by his physical features that developmentally he had a neural tube defect. There is a “defect” in the formation and closure of the brain and spinal cord at a very early age of the fetus. To his mother he was her pride and joy. He laughed and splashed in the water and I could see her heart fill up with such love, because he was truly a blessing in her life. As I witnessed the parents playing games with their children or merely floating back and forth across the width of the pool, the Love for their children was the same. Some were the spitting images of the parents, which all the more encourages them to embrace their child of Light as their own. I knew in my heart that their senses and physicality may have been challenged in our world, but the feeling of Love was the same. It felt really good! I was just as impressed by the swim instructors; their ages varied from retired academic professionals to volunteers who became interested as a result of their own physical therapy sessions. One young lady began as a chid volunteer in the Easter Seals charity, in which her mother was the director. She knew then that her dharma was to become integrated into the lives of people who were challenged by human standards.
Toward the end of my summer on a sunny Friday afternoon week, I was attracted to the aroma of charbroiled hamburgers. As I walked from the pool to the adult day care center, I realized that there was live music playing. I entered the party area and the special needs adults were "mov'in to the groove". I stood there wondering "so where’s my dance partner?" As the band played, a sweet couple caught my eye, they were slowly dancing to the music, possessing these child like smiles. It felt good to know that so many infinite possibilities now existed for these two enamored Souls. I could still recall when children with Down's syndrome were given no chance at a happy life and were placed in institutions. Their Love felt good!
